In Gnosticism, Jaldabaoth (or Yaldabaoth) is the arrogant, ignorant, and often malevolent Demiurge, the false creator god of the material world, who mistakes himself for the supreme being, contrasting sharply with the true, transcendent, unknowable God of the Gnostics. He's a key figure, also called Saklas or Samael, responsible for trapping divine sparks (souls) in imperfect physical bodies, embodying the flawed creator of the Hebrew Bible's Yahweh in some Gnostic texts.
