YHWH (Yahweh/Jehovah) is the personal, sacred name of Israel's God, representing His unique covenant relationship, while Elohim is a more general Hebrew term meaning "God" or "gods," used as a title for the Creator, often implying power, but sometimes referring to other deities, with YHWH being identified as Elohim (the universal God). Think of YHWH as a proper name (like "John") and Elohim as a title (like "the President").
